2019 Judges' Confirmation Information


 

Science Fair Judges’ Confirmation for Friday, February 1 at the Lone Star Convention Center

 

Thank you for signing up to judge at the SCI://TECH Chevron Phillips Chemical Senior High and/or the Entergy Junior High Science Fairs on February 1! The success of these events depend upon volunteers like you who generously give your time to support the nearly 1,800 student participants! Here are a few reminders.  


Please note, judges are welcome to register on-site.

 

Event Details:

All events on Friday, February 1 will take place at the Lone Star Convention Center located at 9055 Airport Road in Conroe. You may park in any open spot in the adjacent parking lot.

The dress code is business casual. You are welcome to wear a shirt to represent your company or organization. Judges will be standing while talking with students, so comfortable shoes are recommended. Please scroll down to the time slot that applies to you. 

 

  

Chevron Phillips Chemical Senior High Science Fair

Check In: 7:45 am

Judges’ Training: 8:00 am  

Project Judging: 8:30 am until completed; most volunteers will complete judging projects by 11:00 am and will complete consensus judging to decide winners by 11:30 am.  

 

Entergy Junior High Science Fair - Morning 

Check-In: 9:30 am

Judges’ Training: 9:45 am  

Project Judging: 10:15 am - until completed; Most judges will finish reviewing student projects by 12:45 pm and will complete consensus judging to decide winners by 1:00 pm.


Entergy Junior High Science Fair - Afternoon

Check In: 2:00 pm 

Judges’ Training: 2:15 pm  

Project Judging: 2:45 pm - until completed; most judges will finish judging student projects by 5:00 pm and will complete consensus judging to decide winners by 5:15 pm.

 

For each session, the event chair will offer a training to give an overview of how to approach the judging process. After the training is complete, judges will receive their lists of student projects and will begin to meet with students. Upon completion, judges will reassemble by category to collectively rank-order the student projects and determine winners. Additional details on judging will be available during the training, but you may read the Science Fair Judging Tips worksheet as a guide.
