Future Focus programming supports the career and college readiness classes within junior high schools. Educators opt for career panels, a classroom-based curriculum designed to promote positive decision making, and/or mock interviews to help students realize that educational attainment today has lasting impacts on their options later in life. It is meant to empower students that they have control over their daily decisions, as small as completing their homework and attending class, which can keep them on track for high school graduation and beyond over time.
The CISD and WISD Virtual Job fair is for high school juniors and seniors from Montgomery County who are looking for a part-time or full-time job. All registered participants will have the opportunity to meet and connect with local companies. This fair is not intended as a job interview, but rather an opportunity for students to hear from and learn about various local companies that are looking to hire current and graduating high school students.
Each summer, EfTA’s Student Internship Program (SIP) offers bright, motivated rising high school seniors hands-on learning opportunities in their desired career fields. SIP internships are designed to provide valuable work experiences for students who are just starting to explore career options. Applications are available in early spring for summer programming.
EfTA holds free virtual speaking events each month highlighting distinguished professionals from various industries and careers. Registered high school students will have the opportunity to learn about where these professionals have come from, where they are headed and what they have learned.
EfTA has a podcast called "What I Wish I Knew". During each episode, a member of the EfTA team speaks with professionals from various career fields about the steps they are taking or did take to reach the career goals they have envisioned for themselves.
